Audi R8 Spyder: call for fuel leaks

Audi R8 SpyderUnited States, 920 copies of the 2011-2012 version of the Audi R8 Spyder will be recalled due to a fuel leak problem.

Certainly, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is more active than ever this summer. These days, the U.S. regulatory body has opened an investigation into the Lotus Elise (oil leak) and the BMW 7 Series (unable to completely stop the sedan). This weekend, we learn that the Audi NHTSA forced to recall 920 copies of the R8 Spyder, version 2011-2012, due to a fuel leak.
Audi R8 SpyderAccording to preliminary results of the investigation, “it is possible that the fuel supply line to touch the heat shield in the engine compartment and, hence, potentially causing a fuel leak” . A near a heat source, the fuel leak could cause a fire.

The problem was reported to the builder in early June following a complaint from an owner who had smelled gasoline on board his car. Audi is going to send a letter to all U.S. owners of R8 Spyder purchased between May 2010 and June 2011 for an appointment and make the necessary repairs. It is not known yet whether European models are also affected by this problem, but one can legitimately ask the question.Audi R8 Spyder
