Chevrolet Corvette Z06A few months before leaving the U.S. its last generation, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 smashed the circuit record of 7’22 minutes in German.

In early June, Chevrolet launched the ZR1 Corvette 2011 / 2012 600 horses on a tour of the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The result was extraordinary because the craft was passed under the 7’20 (7’19 “63 exactly). This time, the manufacturer has put on the same circuit the Corvette Z06, the output of the next generation is planned for the coming months. And, again, the time achieved by the 2012 Corvette Z06 has surprised everyone.

At the wheel of the fireball, the test driver Jim Mero has indeed broken the record of the circuit in 7 minutes and 22 seconds, barely 3 seconds less than the ZR1. Time even more impressive than the previous generation in 2005 was timed to the ring with 20 seconds (7’44).

This clock, visible on the video below, the pilot was done on a Z06 benefiting from a new chassis and changes made on the future Z07. That is to say a new set of suspensions, the Magnetic Selective Ride Control, carbon-ceramic brakes, a traction management improved and four tires Michelin Pilot Sport Cup ZP.
