New 911 Carrera S does 7:40 at Nurburgring

And that is as fast as the 911 GT3 from the previous generation (997), and 13 seconds faster than the 997 Carrera S.

Then last night I flipped through Eurosport IAA there was a special going on. Where our heroes all camera video in five parts tinkered together, the TV guys did it a little longer, but that’s not the point. A Porsche-bobo interviewed reported that the new 991 Carrera S rounds the Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 40 seconds was patched. I think new information.

Indeed, this information is quite fresh. Except on TV is also in other media: August Achleitner, “Vehicle Line director at Porsche confirmed above the Australian GoAuto.  Only this round is driven during the test work, and so it is quite likely that no video evidence of it. However, once the car is delivered to the (racing) double  check this course easily. Lots of extra horsepower, he did not (400 hp compared to 385 hp in the 997), so the advantage is largely from other things than power coming.

The copy which was driven through 7:40 is another 20mm lower sports suspension but there were regular tires on it. This time is good rap, and it promises some of the hotter versions to come. Porsche has 7:26 of a bully Nissan (GT-R) will probably clean the visor. Will they be successful? On the answer we have to wait, because it takes a while before the hotter,  lighter, more track-oriented Porsche 991’s are coming.
