Pebble Beach 2011: Mercedes will celebrate 125 years

Mercedes Celebrates 125th Anniversary at Pebble BeachThe Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach begins next week. For the occasion, Mercedes will celebrate with great fanfare its 125 th anniversary.

Since the beginning of the year, Mercedes does not miss an opportunity to celebrate its 125 th anniversary. It was in 1886 that Karl Benz was registered with the Office of Inventions of Berlin Patent No. 37435. An abstract number in a very real revolution: the first vehicle to gas. 125 years later, Mercedes has not forgotten, and the automobile pioneer seeks to celebrate this event throughout the world.

The German automaker will once again mark the occasion at the Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach held next week in California. For the occasion, Mercedes will present models that have been the old story of the brand. This may include the rediscovery of the American Mercedes (1905), the Blitzen Benz (1911, pictured above), the W 154 Silver Arrow Grand Prix Racing (1939), the 300 SL “Gullwing” (W 198, 1954), the 220 SE (W 180, 1958) and 600 (W 100, 1969).

For the less nostalgic, Mercedes will also present the new Class A and the beautiful SLS AMG Roadster. The famous sculpture Aestehtics 125 (shown below), launched earlier this year to celebrate this anniversary and intended to explore new avenues of design as art, will also look at this year’s Concours d’Elegance Pebble Beach.
